I have an MBA and a finance degree. I’ve spent much of my career as a public sector CEO restructuring complex operations including municipal bonds and budgets. I could have pursued private wealth. Many with my credentials do.

But I chose public service because my parents are public school educators and MEA leaders. They instilled in me that education and serving others matter more than personal accumulation.

So I’m using my background and experience for what I’m genuinely passionate about: public education. I’m bringing that commitment home to Troy—financial acumen grounded in the core values my parents taught me, dedicated to what public schools can do for every child.

MY STORY

I Showed Up On Purpose

I moved to Troy specifically for these schools. My son Maxad is a 7th grader at Larson Middle School. When I saw this election was essentially uncontested, I did what I've always done: I showed up. Well, its now contested and getting political. Not what I signed up for, but something that I am well prepared for. Working for Mike Duggan and Kevyn Orr toughened my while Dave Bing taught me how to condict business with ethics and dignity.

Navigating an election is not new and I hope to bring some new energy to this race now that an entrant has entered with establishment resources.

I'm the son of educators. My mother was a union (I prefer Association) president and later a building principal. My father was a teacher and coach before becoming an MEA leader. I was a substitute teacher early in my career and have always been a strong advocate for public education. I understand the history of education funding in Michigan from a very personal perspective.

I've spent 23 years in public service — fixing Detroit's streetlights, rebuilding communities overseas, managing hundreds of millions in public budgets. I don't just develop plans. I implement them. Troy Schools deserve both.

Beyond the Resume.............

I coached my son's youth basketball and soccer teams for years. Wins and losses didn't matter as much as watching kids grow as a team.

After September 11th I volunteered in Lower Manhattan and spent the next eight years in economic development across the Middle East and Central Asia — helping developing economies grow and stabilizing communities during times of conflict.

I came to Detroit in 2011 and built a career fixing real problems for real people. I will do the same for our Kids. I came to Troy for my son. But I'm running for all of our children.

My commitment to every family in Troy will be the same as my commitment to every resident of Detroit. I will ensure that your voice is heard, especially if you feel as though it hasn't been in the past.
